It all started when…..
Our building was once the Joe Taylor Service on Main St in Filer, Idaho that started on a small scale in 1936. There were two parts to this building, the store and the garage. There was a devastating fire in 1951 that gutted the building with $20,000 dollars worth of damage. It was rebuilt and used by Joe to help many in the community with whatever they needed fixed. Joe died in 1974. The building was remodeled and then sold to the Senior Citizens group. It was incorporated on January 16th, 1976 as the FILER SENIOR HAVEN.
The communities senior citizens organization acquired the old Filer town clock that had been donated to the city in the early 60’s. The clock once decorated the front of the fire station but failed to keep accurate time. Volunteers restored much of the rusted timepiece. The more intricate repairs were done by Jim Conder two different times and then hung on the front of the Filer Senior Haven.
